Dicot Farm, a small, sustainable Certified Organic vegetable farm in Waldorf, MD, is looking for team members for our 2021 growing season. We grow seasonal vegetable crops on 2 acres, including two 3,000 square foot high tunnels, and manage 3-4 acres of soil-building cover crops. We sell at several farmers markets and wholesale outlets in the Washington, DC, region and have a local Southern Maryland Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Cultivating a diverse and inclusive community on the farm and among our customers is critical to our farm’s mission, and we encourage applicants who support and will contribute to that mission.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to have safety protocols in place to protect each other and our customers.
Now entering our seventh season, we have many production practices in place, but are always looking for innovative ways to increase effectiveness and efficiency. We’re looking for enthusiastic team members who are interested in Organic and sustainable farming methods to support the work of our farm (greenhouse work, bed prep, planting, harvesting & packing, weed management, irrigation, tractor work, etc.). Ideal candidates will be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, but also be comfortable with completing routine tasks.
We’re looking for employees who can commit to working from early April through mid-November full-time Tuesday through Saturday (40+ hours a week). Team members will spend the majority of time on the farm in Waldorf but may also assist at our farmers markets and/or CSA pickups. While we are planning to hire full time employees, there may be opportunities for part-time work for the right person. Please indicate if you are only available part-time in the application form.
Team members receive $11.60-$15.00/hr (depending on experience), workers compensation insurance, 40 hours paid time off (if commit to full season full-time work), and receive a weekly supply of vegetables. Housing on-farm is not available, but we are willing to offer assistance finding housing in the region if necessary. Employees also have the opportunity to accompany the farmers in attending educational sessions, field days on other farms, etc.
